The Friends of the Library (FOL), while a separate 501(c3) organization, is a valuable part of the library. The FOL operates the used bookstore, located in the library lobby, which offers slightly used books at a great price. The bookstore, "Friendly Finds," has a part-time manager and approximately 30 volunteers.
As a Friend, you become an important part of an organization that cares about and supports our library. Many of the Friends of the Library volunteer their ideas, expertise, time and other resources to help:
- raise funds for projects and materials beyond the library's budget
- sponsor special programs that encourage reading and literacy.
If you enjoy books, the Friends of the Milford Public Library could use your help at the Friendly Finds Bookstore where you'll get first pick of new arrivals and meet new people in the community. The store is open whenever volunteers are available (nearly the same as library hours).
If interested in helping us at the bookstore or with other fundraisers, stop in and sign up or give us a call at (248) 684-0845 extension 504 for more information.
Money raised through book sales, membership, and the Amazon Smile program are contributed to the library for programming needs. In addition, the FOL sponsors the cost of bussing second grade classrooms to visit the library during the Annual 2nd Grade Readers' Rally.

Besides being a great place to recycle your books, our customers find the store a comfortable and convenient place to look for books for their children and themselves. It's also an enjoyable place to work if you are looking for an opportunity to volunteer your time.
We are now recycling magazines free of charge. Local artists sell their work on consignment from our shop. This includes jewelry, purses, scarves. bookmarks, note cards, and books by local authors and much more!
To join our volunteer staff, stop by the store and leave your name and phone number with the person on duty or with one of the library staff.
